Maldives — Maafushi Trip Plan — 5-Day Itinerary

Maafushi island beach, MaldivesMaldives

🗓️ Best season: November to April — the dry season; May to October is cheaper and wetter

🛂 Visa from Pakistan: Visa ON ARRIVAL (30 days) — bring a confirmed return ticket, a prepaid booking at a registered hotel or guesthouse, and proof of funds. Fill the free IMUGA Traveller Declaration online within 96 hours before arrival.

🌍 From other countries: The same rule for everyone: visa on arrival for all nationalities, with the same entry conditions and the IMUGA form.

The Maldives on a local-island budget: Maafushi's guesthouses, sandbanks and snorkelling — a fraction of resort prices.

🌡️ Live weather: loading…

Route: No direct flights — fly one-stop via Colombo (SriLankan), Dubai (flydubai/Emirates) or Doha (Qatar Airways), about 8–12 hours in total. Then a speedboat (about 35–40 minutes) or the public ferry to Maafushi.

  • Day 1: Arrive Malé → boat to Maafushi; walk the island, sunset on the west beach
  • Day 2: Sandbank + snorkelling trip with a dolphin cruise
  • Day 3: A resort day-visit — or island-hop to Gulhi or Guraidhoo
  • Day 4: Bikini Beach in the morning, water sports, a sunset fishing trip
  • Day 5: Back to Malé: the fish market, Grand Friday Mosque and National Museum; time in Hulhumalé before your flight

What to carry & what you need:

  • Small, clean US dollar notes — dollars are accepted almost everywhere; some rufiyaa helps locally
  • The IMUGA confirmation/QR on your phone
  • Alcohol is banned on local islands — it is not sold there and cannot be brought into the country
  • Swimwear is only for the designated bikini beach — cover shoulders and knees in villages
  • Reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, and seasickness tablets for boat days
  • A Type G (British 3-pin) plug adapter
