Before you go — trip checklist
- Check the live weather on the card above for your dates — and pack for cold nights in the mountains, even in summer.
- Mountain roads (Babusar, Neelum, Lowari) open and close with weather and landslides. Confirm the road is open from official district administration or NHA updates on the day you travel.
- Carry your CNIC — some areas register visitors at check posts.
- Phone signals thin out in the mountains (SCOM works best in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir). Download offline maps before you leave.
- Book your stay early for June to August — the popular places fill up fast.
- Carry cash — ATMs and card machines are rare beyond the main towns.
- Leave every place cleaner than you found it.
