Route: Karachi – Makran Coastal Highway, about 630 km (8–9 hours), or a 1-hour flight from Karachi.
- Day 1: Reach Gwadar. Hammerhead and Koh-e-Batil viewpoint at sunset.
- Day 2: West Bay and Paddi Zirr beaches; Pasni side trip if time allows.
- Day 3: Return journey — on the road route, stop at Kund Malir beach and Hingol National Park (Princess of Hope).
What to carry & what you need:
- Your original CNIC (Pakistanis) or passport — multiple checkpoints run the length of the coastal highway
- Visitors from abroad generally need an NOC for travel in Balochistan — arrange it in advance
- Fuel discipline — fill up in Karachi or Hub and again in Ormara, and carry spare fuel; stations are far apart
- A vehicle kit — spare tyre, jack, tow rope and basic tools; travel in daylight, ideally with another vehicle
- Water and food for the whole stretch — options between Karachi and Gwadar are few
- A sun and heat kit — sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and light breathable clothing (the best months are Nov–Mar)
- Cash — along this route, ATMs are only in Gwadar
- Offline maps and a power bank or car charger — coverage is patchy beyond Ormara; never photograph checkpoints
Note: Carry CNIC and vehicle papers for the coastal-highway checkpoints, and fuel up whenever you see a pump — they are far apart. Best months are October to March; summer is extremely hot.
